SirsiDynix, Rome, and Unicorn

The April 2007 issue of Smart Libraries Newsletter details the 2005 consolidation of the Sirsi and Dynix Corporations into SirsiDynix, the largest company in the library-automation industry. This past January, Vista Equity Partners, a private-equity firm, acquired SirsiDynix. Days prior to the company's annual user conference, the president/CEO tendered his resignation. According to the ALA TechSource, 55 days after Vista took over SirsiDynix, it consolidated development efforts around a platform based on Unicorn. The code name for this product is "Rome."
